Health directorate recommends delayed return of Eid holidaymakers

Fearing that the coronavirus situation may take a turn for the worse again, the health directorate has recommended delaying the return journey of Eid holidaymakers for the time being.
"In order to keep the Covid situation under control, a recommendation has been made to delay the return of people who went home ignoring health guidelines ahead of Eid," said Dr ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services.
Talking to media after visiting Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon, he also suggested taking an appropriate measure to facilitate return of the holidaymakers, reports Somoy TV.
Seeking cooperation from all to tackle any untoward situation, the DGHS chief said, "We are on high alert to ensure that coronavirus variants from other countries, including India, do not enter our country. Cooperation is needed from everyone in this regard,"
However, the Covid situation has improved significantly in the last few days in Bangladesh.
On Friday, the daily death toll from Covid-19 has dropped to 51-day low as some 26 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, 848 more people were diagnosed with Covid-19, with 10.82% positivity rate.
