A grey-headed fish eagle was rescued from a locality in Sarankhola upazila of Bagerhat yesterday (25 February).
Members of the WildTeam rescued the eagle after receiving information from the locals, reports our correspondent, quoting Md Alam Hawlader, the officer in charge of Wild Team's Sharankhola upazila.
Alam said, "After receiving the news that the bird was stuck in a net on the boundary wall of a house in the Chalrayenda village, we reached the site and rescued the bird."
"It had an injury on its wing and got weakened due to being trapped. We provided initial treatment to the bird and kept it under observation. Once fully recovered, it will be safely released back into its natural habitat," he added.
Alam further said that birds like this occasionally come into local areas near the Sundarbans. He thanked the locals for the awareness and quick response.
