Govt withdraws 102 assistant commissioners ahead of upcoming national election
According to ministry officials, the ministry has initiated this reshuffle as part of its efforts to streamline field administration ahead of the upcoming national elections.

The government has withdrawn 102 officials from the 37th BCS batch who were serving as assistant commissioners (land) across various regions of the country.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications today (30 July), assigning the officials to the offices of different divisional commissioners for redeployment either as senior assistant commissioners or assistant commissioners.
An official from the Ministry of Public Administration told The Business Standard, "The decision has been made to withdraw officials of the 37th BCS batch from their roles as assistant commissioners. The process is being carried out in phases."
As per the notifications, 22 officials have been transferred under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka divisional commissioner, 15 under Chattogram, 13 under Rajshahi, 15 under Khulna, seven under Sylhet, 13 under Rangpur, 10 under Barishal and seven under Mymensingh divisional commissioner.

During the national election, deputy commissioners (DCs) act as returning officers in their respective districts, while upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs), assistant commissioners (land) and other BCS cadres serve as assistant returning officers.
