Govt will take action against RMG owners if they don’t pay wages before Eid: Home adviser
No illegal demands from workers will be accepted, he says

All garment workers will receive their wages before Eid-ul-Adha (Qurbani Eid), said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He stated that factory owners must pay the workers their rightful dues. Otherwise, the government will take action against them.
The decision was made during the 9th meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Council Committee held at the home ministry today (12 May), according to the adviser.
In a briefing to journalists after the meeting, he added that no illegal demands from workers will be accepted. If workers attempt to protest unlawfully, such actions will not be tolerated.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that for the safety of the general public at sacrificial cattle markets (Qurbani haats), each haat in Dhaka must appoint 100 Ansar members. This is necessary because incidents such as theft and pickpocketing often occur at these markets. In addition to their own security measures, haat authorities must appoint Ansar members.
He further mentioned that before Eid, there is a significant movement of people in and out of Dhaka, causing heavy traffic on highways.
Therefore, the highway police will work actively during Eid to ensure smooth travel and prevent extortion. He also said that special drives will be conducted to curb extortion.
When asked what measures will be taken to prevent smuggling of sacrificial animals from India, he replied that the country has more than enough animals to meet the demand for Eid. As such, all forces including the BGB and police have been instructed to prevent the entry of any animals from outside the country.
In response to a question about former President Abdul Hamid's overseas travel, the adviser said that a high-level committee has been formed on the matter. Actions will be taken based on the report submitted by the committee.
Adviser noted, "He (Abdul Hamid) is a former president. In terms of state protocol, a former president ranks fourth. Therefore, he is entitled to certain protocols and is eligible to use a red passport accordingly."
Regarding the recovery of illegal arms, he said that operations are ongoing, although the results have not yet fully met expectations.
