Govt reshuffles top bureaucracy, appoints new secretaries to 12 ministries and divisions

The government has appointed new secretaries to 12 ministries and divisions. Among them, nine officials have been promoted to the rank of secretary, while three serving secretaries have been transferred to different posts.
Separate notifications regarding these changes were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration yesterday (25 March). Among the nine newly appointed secretaries, one has been appointed on a contractual basis.
SM Ebadur Rahman has been appointed as secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) on a contractual basis while Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, formerly director general of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, has been promoted to secretary of the Parliament Secretariat.
The current Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Kaniz Mawla has been transferred to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) as secretary.
Yasmin Parveen, SDS (Civil) at the National Defence College, has been promoted to secretary and appointed as secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs while Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed has been promoted to secretary and made secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Land Raihan Kawsar has been promoted to secretary and appointed as secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Zakaria has been promoted to secretary and appointed as secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division Kazi Anwar Hossain has been promoted to secretary and appointed as secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Fahmida Akhter has been promoted to secretary and appointed as secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
