Govt to procure 50,000 tonnes potatoes
Minimum price of potatoes at cold storage gates has been fixed at Tk22 per kg

The government has decided to procure 50,000 tonnes of potatoes from farmers this year.
At the same time, the government has set the minimum price of potatoes at cold storage gates at Tk22 per kg.
The decision was taken following the recommendations of a four-member review committee formed to ensure fair prices for potatoes and protect farmers' interests, said a press release of the agriculture ministry.
The purchased potatoes will be stored in cold storage and sold under a government initiative in October–November this year.
The government also decided to provide incentives to potato farmers in the next season.
The relevant ministries will take the necessary steps to implement these measures.
