Govt officials can’t include spouse, children as travel companions, says new guidelines
Foreign travel should be avoided for the personal secretaries/assistant personal secretaries of the advisors or senior secretaries/secretaries, except for emergency reasons

The government has issued a set of revised guidelines for official foreign travel, aiming to streamline and ensure the necessity of such trips.
According to a circular issued by the Chief Adviser's Office on 23 March 2025, officials must now confirm the relevance and importance of the trip before any foreign visit is approved.
The directive also mentioned that in government-sponsored foreign travel, officials should not include their spouses/children as travel companions.
"Foreign travel should definitely be avoided at the expense of contractors/supplier companies," the circular said.
It further added that foreign travel should be avoided for the personal secretaries/assistant personal secretaries of the advisors or senior secretaries/secretaries, except for emergency reasons.
