Govt gives Asif Nazrul-led panel more time on BB reserve heist probe review

The government has once again extended the deadline for the six-member review committee, led by Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, to submit its recommendations regarding the progress of the investigation into the 2016 Bangladesh Bank reserve theft.
On Tuesday, the Cabinet Division issued a notification extending the committee's deadline to 31 October.
To review matters related to the reserve heist, the government formed a high-level committee on 11 March.
The committee was initially asked to submit its recommendations within three months.
Later, the deadline was extended to 30 September.
The other members of the committee are Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, chief adviser's special assistant Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Director Ali Ashfaq, and Rupali Bank Chairman Nazrul Huda.
The committee has been tasked with reviewing the progress of investigations into the 2016 Bangladesh Bank reserve heist, assessing other government measures taken in this regard, determining responsibility for the incident, and making necessary recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
