Govt cancels remaining term of cabinet secretary Abdur Rashid
M Siraj Uddin Mia, principal secretary to the chief adviser, has been given the additional charge of secretary of the Cabinet Division.
The government has cancelled the remaining tenure of Sheikh Abdur Rashid's contractual appointment as cabinet secretary.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard today (14 February).
In another notification, M Siraj Uddin Mia, principal secretary to the chief adviser, has been given the additional charge of secretary of the Cabinet Division.
On 8 October 2024, Abdur Rashid was appointed cabinet secretary on a contractual basis. Before that, he served as senior secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division. He was formally appointed cabinet secretary for a two-year contractual term effective from 14 October 2024.
Following the fall of the government amid a mass uprising, Abdur Rashid, an officer of the 1982 BCS batch who had retired as an additional secretary, was first appointed chairman of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). Four days later, on 17 August, he was appointed secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division on a contractual basis, from where he was subsequently made cabinet secretary.
