To showcase the apparel industry's technology and garments accessories and packaging, two major exhibitions will kick off in the capital on Wednesday.

The 22nd edition of the Garment Technology Bangladesh (GTB) Expo and the 14th edition of the Garment Accessories and Packaging (GAP) Expo 2025 will be held at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB).

The GAP Expo, a crucial platform for the garment accessories and packaging sector, underscores its role as a vital backward linkage for Bangladesh's thriving ready-made garment (RMG) industry. The expo will be showcasing products, types of machinery, and raw materials.

Md Shahrier, president of Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association, shared the details at a press conference in a city hotel today.

The Bangladesh Garment Accessories Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association and ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd will jointly organise the four-day long event.

Md Shahrier said earlier Bangladesh was fully import-dependent for RMG accessories and packaging materials.

Currently, over 60 items are produced locally for export-oriented apparel industries and some are also exporting directly, he added.

A total of 500 exhibitors from 25 countries will showcase their latest technology machines and software used in every process of production, he said.

"Bangladesh has gained its reputation as a leading supplier of RMG to the world. In its effort to strengthen this position and modernise to meet the evolving demands of the international market, GTB 2025 serves as a vital technology platform for the country's RMG sector," said Nanda Gopal, director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd.

Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin is scheduled to inaugurate the exhibition on Thursday morning. The exhibition will be open for all from 11am to 7pm.

The four-day event will continue until 11 January, establishing itself as one of the largest trade shows of its kind in Southeast Asia.
