Fugitive accused in multiple cases arrested in Mirpur
Police said more than 10 arrest warrants are pending against him in several fraud cases filed with Monohardi Police Station in Narsingdi.
Police's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested a jail fugitive wanted in multiple fraud cases from a restaurant in the capital's Mirpur area.
The arrestee, identified as Ahidul Alam Bhuiyan alias Sajid, 57, was detained during a raid at a restaurant in Mirpur-1 at around 5:30pm yesterday (8 June).
Confirming the arrest, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) NM Nasiruddin said police recovered 10 SIM cards of different operators and 23 blank cheques containing details of 10 separate bank accounts from the suspect's possession.
According to police, Ahidul was involved in various financial scams, including defrauding people by promising Hajj arrangements, and was listed at no 60 on the joint fugitive list of Police Headquarters and the Department of Prisons.

Legal proceedings against the accused are under way, police added.
