Four businesses in Chattogram fined Tk88,000 for violating consumer rights regulations

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has fined four businesses in Chattogram a total of Tk88,000 for violating consumer rights regulations.
The penalties were issued during a monitoring drive conducted across various areas of Chattogram on Saturday.
Among the businesses, "ELE," a clothing store at Mimi Super Market, faced Tk50,000 for falsely marketing local garments as foreign ones at inflated prices without providing any purchase vouchers.
Another store, "Akarshan," in the same market was fined Tk25,000 for similar misconduct.
Additionally, "Sathi Store" was fined Tk8,000 for selling unauthorised cosmetic products.
In a separate incident, a vendor at the iftar market near Mimi Super Market was fined Tk5,000 for maintaining an unhygienic environment and for selling dairy products without proper expiry date, according to a press release.
The monitoring team, led by Deputy Director Mohammad Faiz Ullah and Assistant Directors Md Anisur Rahman, Rana Debnath, and Mahmuda Akter, emphasised adhering to consumer rights and maintaining business integrity.
