A case has been filed against Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch's former chief Harun Or Rashid and 10 others over allegations of extortion and assault of a businessman in Narayanganj's Fatullah.

The businessman, Shah Alam, filed the case with the court of Narayanganj Judicial Magistrate today (2 October). 

On the orders of the court, the case was registered with Fatullah Model Police Station, said the police station's Officer-in-Charge Shariful Islam.

According to the case document, the plaintiff alleged that on 15 September 2020, the accused persons snatched Tk20 lakh from him at gunpoint. 

He was then kidnapped and was forced to sign 10 blank cheques before being set free, the plaintiff alleged.
