Former BB spokesperson Mezbaul Haque resigns
He was promoted to executive director in December 2022 and was appointed spokesperson on the same day.

Md Mezbaul Haque, former spokesperson and executive director of Bangladesh Bank, has resigned, citing personal reasons.
He submitted his resignation today (16 September), officials familiar with the matter told The Business Standard.
Mezbaul joined Bangladesh Bank in 1993 as an assistant director. He was promoted to executive director in December 2022 and was appointed spokesperson on the same day.
Prior to this, he was in-charge of the Payments System Department at the central bank.
After the July Uprising, which led to the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government, Mezbaul was transferred from the central bank's headquarters to its Rajshahi office. Sources within the bank said he was known to be close to Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Since the uprising, the central bank's governor, two deputy governors, the head of BFIU, and the policy adviser were all forced to resign. All of them were contract employees. Mezbaul's resignation marks the first by a regular official since the change in administration.
