Youth are leading Bangladesh’s present, not just its future: Foreign Adviser
“The youth-led movement in July 2024 turned the demand for justice and good governance into a nationwide call, leading to reforms under the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus,” he said

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said that youth are not just the future but the present of Bangladesh.
He said this today (29 July) at a UN event in New York titled "July Beyond Borders – Celebration of the Power of Youth in Transforming Bangladesh", jointly organised by Bangladesh's Permanent Mission to the UN and its Consulate General in New York.
"The youth-led movement in July 2024 turned the demand for justice and good governance into a nationwide call, leading to reforms under the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus," he said.
Highlighting key government actions taken over the past year, he told the international community that those who once led protests are now shaping policy and guiding the nation, aligning with the UN's youth agenda.
UN Youth Office representative Dr Sudha Balakrishnan said, "The UN always encourages youth participation in social change and praised Bangladesh's youth for leading political, social and economic transformation."
"Their role could inspire other nations," she added.
The event featured documentaries and exhibitions celebrating youth roles in political change.
Currently, Touhid is in New York to attend a UN meeting on the two-state solution to the Palestine issue.
