Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain called on visiting Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in the capital this morning (15 December).

Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan was also present during the call on.

The meeting marked the beginning of President Ramos-Horta's packed schedule on the second day of his four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

His itinerary includes a one-on-one meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus later today.

The meeting between the Bangladesh chief adviser and Timor-Leste president will be followed by a delegation-level meeting at the chief adviser's office, according to the foreign ministry.

After the meeting, a joint press briefing will be held, during which the two countries are expected to sign agreements on visa exemption and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Foreign Office Consultations (FOC).

President Ramos-Horta arrived in Dhaka last night (14 December) on a four-day official visit.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus welcomed him at the airport with a ceremonial reception, including a gun salute and a guard of honor.

The Timor-Leste president is accompanied by a 19-member delegation including the country's Foreign Minister.

The President will engage in a series of high-level meetings and events aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

The Timor-Leste president will call on Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban tomorrow (16 December).

On Monday, Ramos-Horta will visit the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar to pay homage to the heroes of Bangladesh's Liberation War.

Tomorrow, Ramos-Horta will also attend the 54th Victory Day celebrations.

On 17 December, he will deliver a lecture at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) auditorium on "The Challenges of Peace in the Contemporary World."

He is expected to interact with Bangladeshi students and young leaders, sharing his experiences of leading his country's independence movement, the role of the people, and the post-independence aspirations of Timor-Leste.

President Ramos-Horta will leave Dhaka Tuesday afternoon (17 December) concluding his visit.
