Foolproof security in place to ensure festive Ducsu polls: DMP commissioner
8 security checkpoints to be set up, patrol teams to be deployed

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken foolproof security measures to ensure a festive Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election tomorrow, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali said today (8 September).
Speaking at a press conference at the university's TSC premises, he said eight security checkpoints will be set up to regulate entry into the university area, reads a press release.
"In addition to polling centre-based security, DMP will deploy foot patrols, mobile patrol teams, plainclothes Detective Branch members, and specialised units of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC)," he added.
The commissioner also announced that, in the interest of maintaining public order, carrying or displaying firearms and explosives in and around Dhaka University will be strictly prohibited from 8pm on 8 September until 12pm on 11 September, except for law enforcement personnel.
He further said that DMP is working in coordination with the Dhaka University authorities and other law enforcement agencies to ensure a free, fair, and festive election.
In response to a question from journalists, Commissioner Sajjat added that DMP is also monitoring social media to prevent cyberbullying and curb misinformation related to the polls.
