Flight disruptions persist at Ctg airport amid Middle East war; 162 flights cancelled so far
Disruptions in flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport continue as the US-Israel war against Iran continue to hit international air connectivity, leaving hundreds of passengers, particularly expatriate workers, stranded during the Eid travel period.
Many travellers scheduled to return home for Eid holidays or fly back to their workplaces abroad have been unable to do so due to repeated cancellations.
According to the latest press bulletin, seven international flights were cancelled on Eid day yesterday (21 March).
Among them, Biman Bangladesh Airlines suspended one arrival and one departure flight from the Middle East. US-Bangla Airlines cancelled two arrival and one departure flights, while Air Arabia cancelled one arrival and one departure flight.
Despite the disruptions, limited operations continued. A total of six flights arrived and four flights departed on Middle East routes during the day.
Airport authorities said flight suspensions on routes linking Chattogram with Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi by airlines including SalamAir, Air Arabia and US-Bangla Airlines remain unchanged.
The impact has been cumulative. Since 28 February, the airport has recorded 162 international flight cancellations, including those yesterday.
Officials said the situation remains fluid, with flight schedules dependent on how the war in the Middle East evolves.
