Fire at jhut warehouse in Gazipur brought under control after 3hrs
Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Director Mohammad Mamun told The Business Standard that six firefighting units brought the blaze under control at around 7:15pm.
A fire that broke out at a jhut (garment waste) warehouse in the Dewaliabari area of Konabari in Gazipur today (8 January) was brought under control after nearly three hours of efforts.
The fire started at around 4:15pm.
Confirming the matter, Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Director Mohammad Mamun told The Business Standard that six firefighting units brought the blaze under control at around 7:15pm.
Earlier, Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector of Konabari Modern Fire Station, said the intensity of the fire was high and spread quickly due to the presence of several adjacent warehouses.
"Details about the cause of the fire and the extent of damage will be known after firefighting operations are completed," he added.
No casualties were reported as of the filing of this report.
Locals said they initially attempted to extinguish the fire, but later informed the fire service when the situation went out of control.
