The family of Felani Khatun, who was brutally killed by India's BSF at the Kurigram border, has received Eid gift from the government.
Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Nusrat Sultana handed over a cheque and Eid gifts to Felani's father, Nur Islam, at the DC office today (27 March).
The initiative was taken as per the instructions of the LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.
As part of the Eid gift, the District Council provided a cheque of Tk30,000, while the District Social Services Office provided Eid clothing and food items.
Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Md Firuzul Islam and Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md Humayun Kabir were present at the time, among others.
Expressing his gratitude, Nur Islam said, "I feel very happy to receive cash and clothing for Eid. With my wife and children, I will be able to celebrate Eid well. I will pray for the adviser sir and everyone. And I ask everyone to pray for my deceased daughter."
On 7 January 2011, Felani was shot and killed by BSF personnel at the Anantapur border under Kurigram's Phulbari upazila. Her body was left hanging on a barbed wire fence for five hours, sparking outrage.
