Father killed for protesting daughter’s harassment in Rajshahi
The victim’s son filed a case

A man was killed in Rajshahi city last night (16 April) after protesting the harassment of his daughter by a group of local youths.
The victim, Akram Hossain, 45, a bus driver and member of the Rajshahi District Motor Workers' Union, was attacked near the Shaheed Minar area in Talaimari around 10:30pm.
According to family members, Akram had confronted several youths in the neighbourhood for repeatedly harassing his daughter. Following his protest, the harassers came to his house and threatened him. That same night, they attacked him with a brick, critically injuring him.
Locals and family members rushed him to RMCH, where he was declared dead shortly after admission.
The victim's family claimed that several individuals – identified as Nantu, Bishal, and Ratan – were involved in the fatal attack.
Boalia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostak Hasan said, "Akram Hossain was injured in an attack near the Talaimari Shaheed Minar and later died while undergoing treatment at RMCH," he said.
"His body has been sent for autopsy, and we are working to arrest those involved."
The victim's son, Imam Hasan Anonto, filed a case today (Thursday) morning, naming Nantu, Bishal, Khokon, Tasim Hossain, Omi, Nahid, and Shishir as the accused.
