Family cards for all after June budget: Whip Bakul
He also said the government aims to continue its development efforts by reviving closed mills and factories and restoring Khulna’s declining industrial areas
The government plans to bring everyone under the family card programme in its full form after the upcoming national budget in June, National Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul said today (10 March).
He made the remarks while inaugurating the distribution of family cards among beneficiaries of Ward No 10 of the Khulna City Corporation at the Khalishpur Haji Shariatullah Bidyapith premises.
According to officials, a total of 5,275 beneficiaries in the ward will receive the cards in the first phase. On the inauguration day, 4,158 people were handed the cards, while the remaining beneficiaries will receive theirs soon.
Bakul said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to empowering women, a pledge made by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman shortly after assuming office.
He also said the government aims to continue its development efforts by reviving closed mills and factories and restoring Khulna's declining industrial areas.
"Through the revival of mills and factories, the dead industrial zones will be brought back to life and Khulna will be transformed into a modern industrial city," he said.
The whip also warned that injustice, drugs and terrorism will not be tolerated, adding that the dream of a developed Khulna will be realised with the support of people from all political backgrounds.
