Expansion of ICT services at upazila level now priority: Minister Fokir Mahbub
He added that the government will focus on extending technology-driven services to grassroots levels.
Expanding information and communication technology (ICT) services to every upazila and making technology more accessible to the general public is a top priority for the government, said Fokir Mahbub Anam, the minister of posts, telecommunications, and information technology.
Speaking at a reception organised by the ICT Division following his assumption of office today (18 February), the minister emphasised that public trust can only be earned through coordinated initiatives and effective implementation of programmes.
In his first formal engagement with officials as the newly appointed minister, Anam stressed transparency and accountability as key priorities in the ICT sector.
"ICT is a promising and strategically important sector. To implement government policies effectively, professionalism, integrity, and dedication from officials are essential. Let us work together to earn the trust of the people through our actions," he said.
He added that the government will focus on extending technology-driven services to grassroots levels. This includes expanding digital services at the upazila level, simplifying online access to government services, and integrating technology into the daily lives of citizens.
The minister highlighted that these initiatives are central to the government's vision of making ICT a driver of inclusive development and public service delivery.
