BCL leader detained at IU while trying to sit for exam

A vice-president of the outlawed organisation the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) unit at Islamic University (IU), Mamun-ur-Rashid, was detained while attempting to sit for an exam today (13 January).
"We have taken action by handing him over to the authorities," said IU Assistant Proctor Dr Fakhrul Islam.
Mamun, a Master's student in the Management Department, was trying to sit for a retake examination, according to university officials and students.

Mamun came to sit for the exam today and faced strong protests from fellow students who chanted slogans such as "The blood of Abu Sayeed-Mugdha will not go in vain" and "Abu Sayeed-Mugdha, the fight isn't over yet" outside the department from around 12:30pm onwards.
Students claimed that Mamun had exerted influence on campus on multiple occasions and opposed student movements, stating they would not allow such individuals to take exams on campus.
Faculty members and university authorities intervened and handed Mamun over to the police.
