Forest officials seize trawler with 6 sacks of deer traps, 370 kg ice in Sundarbans
No arrests as suspects manage to escape by entering dense forest area

A special patrol team from the Sundarbans East Forest Division seized six sacks full of deer traps and a trawler carrying approximately 10 maunds (around 370 kg) of ice during a late-night operation on Friday (2 May).
Acting on a tip-off, the operation was conducted around 11:50pm on the western bank of the Majherchar area of Gyanpara in the Sundarbans forest region following a special announcement by Mohammad Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, divisional forest officer of Sundarbans East Forest Division.
The patrol team, led by Asaduzzaman, forester and officer-in-charge of Gyanpara Special Patrol Outpost, conducted the raid with accompanying staff members.
However, the suspects managed to escape by fleeing into the dense forest area of the Sundarbans, resulting in no arrests.
"Search operations are continuing to apprehend the culprits," said Asaduzzaman.
He added that preparations are also underway to file a case over the seizure of the deer traps and the illegal trawler.
He reaffirmed Sundarbans East Forest Division's commitment to protecting the forest, forest resources, and wildlife. "We remain vigilant in our efforts to safeguard our natural heritage."
