Dhaka records highest temperature this year at 40.1°C

A severe heat wave is sweeping the capital today as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) recorded this year's highest temperature at 40.1°C, up from 39.2°C yesterday.
Confirming the matter, BMD Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa said the sky might be partially cloudy.
The temperature at 6pm was recorded at 34.4°C.
BMD said the highest temperature in the country today was recorded at 42 °C in Chuadanga.
If the temperature is between 36°C and 37.9 °C, it is a mild heat wave. If the temperature is 38°C to 39.9 °C, it is a moderate heat wave.
Temperatures between 40°C to 41.9 °C are considered a severe heat wave and more than 42°C is a very severe heat wave.
