82mm of rainfall recorded in Dhaka over 12 hours
The ongoing rain in Dhaka may continue until tomorrow, BMD says

Dhaka recorded 82 millimeters of rainfall over a 12-hour period from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Thursday (29 May).
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) released the data this evening in the face of heavy rainfall ongoing in the capital since morning.
Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir of the BMD told The Business Standard that a deep depression is currently crossing the coastal area. As a result, rainfall is occurring in nearly all parts of the country.
He added that the ongoing rain in Dhaka may continue until tomorrow.
After that, the intensity is expected to decrease.
The depression over the coastal area may weaken after crossing the coast around midnight, he also said.
However, since it's currently a low tide, there is no likelihood of a significant rise in water levels.
The tidal surge at night is expected to be lower than that during the day, said the BMD official.
