Vessel carrying 35,000 tonnes of diesel from Oman arrives at Ctg Port
Two more vessels, carrying a combined 66,000 tonnes of diesel, are scheduled to arrive this afternoon.
A Liberia-flagged vessel, Golden Horizon, carrying 35,000 tonnes of diesel from Oman, arrived at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port today (20 April).
Two more vessels, carrying a combined 66,000 tonnes of diesel, are scheduled to arrive this afternoon, confirmed Nazrul Islam, managing partner of local agent Pride Shipping Lines.
According to Nazrul, another Liberia-flagged vessel, FPMC 30, carrying 33,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia, is expected to reach the outer anchorage around 2pm.
At the same time, another Liberia-flagged vessel, Pacific Indigo, is also expected to arrive with 33,000 tonnes of diesel from India.
Nazrul further said, "Considering the fuel shortage in the country, we are giving top priority to unloading the oil as quickly as possible. Lighter vessels have been kept ready in advance. Oil unloading starts within a few hours of the ship's berthing."
He added that on Friday (17 April), four vessels carrying 1.36 lakh tonnes of fuel arrived, and unloading of those shipments is still ongoing.
"Along with that, three more vessels carrying 1.01 lakh tonnes are arriving today," he said.
He also noted that within the next three days, two more vessels carrying 33,000 tonnes of diesel and 34,600 tonnes of jet fuel are expected to arrive.
