Electricity from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is expected to be connected to the national grid by December this year, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain said today (4 June).

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Asif Mahmud said, "The electricity generated from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be possible to supply to the national grid in December this year. The construction of the 2,400 MW nuclear power plant in Rooppur is progressing rapidly."

Highlighting recent developments in the energy sector, the adviser also announced that the government has repealed the Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply (Special Provisions) Act 2010.

"This move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the power sector," he added.
