12kg LPG cylinder price reduced by Tk93 in June

Amid colossal pressure from skyrocketing commodity prices, cylinder gas users are going to have a little relief in the running month as the authorities have decreased per kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Tk103.52 including value-added tax (VAT) from Tk111.25 last month.
In June, consumers will avail 12kg LPG cylinder provided by private operators at Tk1,242 which is Tk93 down from the previous month.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Berc) announced this retail LPG tariff on Thursday based on Saudi Aramco's contract price (CP) of Propane and Butane, the raw materials for LPG.
Saudi Arabian company Aramco publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month, known as Saudi Cargo Price (CP). Berc adjusts the price of LPG in the country based on this Saudi CP.
"Tariff of other sizes of cylinders will also be determined according to the per kg price rate," said Berc Chairman Md Abdul Jalil at a virtual press briefing.
According to the CP rate, the price of per tonne propane and Butane was predicted at $750 which was $850 and $860 in May.
"For setting the tariff, the commission has considered the exchange rate of each dollar at Tk89.15," said the Berc Chairman.
Meanwhile, the tariff of reticulated LPG also dropped to Tk100.29kg down from Tk108.02 last month.
The price of Auto Gas used for motor vehicles has been set at Tk57.91 per litre down from Tk62.21 litre in May.
However, the price of public LPG has remained unchanged as the raw material cost has not changed in the production end.
