Load shedding to begin in Dhaka before rural areas this summer: Energy adviser
In an effort to minimise power outages during the ongoing summer season, the government is making its best efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, he says

If load shedding becomes unavoidable, it will start in Dhaka before affecting rural areas this summer, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said today (11 April).
"In an effort to minimise power outages during the ongoing summer season, the government is making its best efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply," the adviser told journalists at the Eastern Railway conference room in Chattogram.
He noted that uninterrupted power supply depends on various factors. "We may not be able to ensure uninterrupted electricity like during Ramadan, but we will try.
"We've requested that air conditioners be set to 25°C, which could reduce the power load by 1,000 to 2,000 megawatts," the adviser said.
Fouzul, also the railways adviser, further addressed road safety concerns on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway, announcing a directive to restrict CNG-run auto-rickshaws from the route due to ongoing road expansion projects and associated risks.
Regarding Chattogram's perennial waterlogging issues, the adviser expressed optimism, stating that the situation has already improved compared to previous years.
Additionally, the adviser announced that all railway hospitals across the country will soon be opened to the general public alongside railway families.
"We've discussed with the health adviser and will soon sign a memorandum of understanding. Necessary equipment will be procured and specialist doctors will be appointed," he added.
