Jet fuel price cut by Tk19.22 per litre
The latest reduction marks the third consecutive monthly cut after a series of steep hikes earlier this year.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced jet fuel prices for domestic flights by Tk19.22 per litre, marking the third consecutive monthly cut as global oil prices continue to ease.
The revised prices, announced in a notification today (8 July), will take effect from midnight.
Under the new rates, jet fuel for domestic flights will cost Tk130.99 per litre, down from Tk150.21.
For international flights, the price has been reduced to $0.8556 per litre from $0.9808.
The latest adjustment follows a Tk15.67-per-litre reduction last month. In May, BERC cut jet fuel prices by a combined Tk61.12 per litre in two phases.
The latest cuts come after a series of sharp price hikes earlier this year, after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on 28 February.
Before the conflict, domestic jet fuel was priced at Tk95.12 per litre in February. In March, BERC raised jet fuel prices twice by a combined Tk107 per litre, followed by another Tk24.79-per-litre increase in April.
The conflict later expanded across the region as Iran retaliated, with attacks on energy infrastructure triggering volatility in international fuel markets.
Crude oil prices have fallen since the ceasefire, leading BERC to cut domestic jet fuel prices.
Previously, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation set jet fuel prices. However, the interim government restored BERC's pricing authority through a gazette notification issued on 15 September 2024.
BERC held its first public hearing on jet fuel pricing on 23 March 2025 and has reviewed and adjusted prices on a monthly basis since then.
