Govt working to ensure uninterrupted power during Ramadan: State minister
He asked people to give time and show patience.
The government is working to provide uninterrupted electricity despite shortages, State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit said today (20 February).
"We are trying to provide uninterrupted electricity during iftar, tarawih and sehri. There is a power shortage. We have started working on how to manage it efficiently and reduce public inconvenience," he said while responding to questions from reporters after meeting officials from the Jashore district's power department at the Jashore Circuit House this afternoon.
The state minister also said, "We ask the people to give us some time and show patience. Following the power department's plans, we will be able to resolve various crises and problems."
He added that electricity supply for farmers will be ensured during the boro season, even if rationing is required.
"I have instructed officials to prepare to meet farmers' electricity needs. Even if we have to ration electricity elsewhere, farmers' requirements will get priority," he said.
Earlier, the state minister met district power department officials in the Circuit House auditorium, where they presented information on challenges and opportunities in the sector.
During the meeting, the minister urged officials to work closely to resolve the issues.
