BERC reduces LPG prices following Aramco readjustments
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the reduced price of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) filled cylinders of different capacities at a press conference.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) today (2 September) reduced LPG prices in line with new price adjustments by Saudi Arabia-based Aramco, which sets the contract price for the natural gas liquids at the beginning of each month for term contracts.

"All LPG marketing companies will implement the new price with effect from today," he said.
The LPG is marketed in cylinders with capacities of 5.5kg, 12kg, 12.5kg, 150kg, 16kg, 18kg, 20kg, 22kg, 25kg, 30kg, 33kg, 35kg and 45kg.
According to BERC, consumer-level prices of the gas-filled cylinders would from now on be Tk582, Tk1,270, Tk1,323, Tk1,588, Tk1,694, Tk1,906, Tk2,117, Tk2,329, Tk2,647, Tk3,176, Tk3,494, Tk3,705 and Tk4,764 respectively.
The existing prices, which were effective from 3 August, were Tk584, Tk1,273, Tk1,326, Tk1,592, Tk1,698, Tk1,910, Tk2,122, Tk2,334, Tk2,653, Tk3,183, Tk3,502, Tk3,714 and Tk4,775 respectively.
According to the announcement, the 12kg cylinder, which is sold the most, was reduced by Tk3.
Ahmed said the BERC also reduced the prices of auto gas to Tk58.15 per litre, reducing the amount by Tk0.13.
The chairman said the price was re-fixed in line with the readjustment international market as Saudi Aramco has slashed the official selling prices for propane and butane for May.
The new prices are set at US$520 per tonne for propane and US$490 per tonne for butane.
