Another vessel carrying 30,000 tonnes of diesel arrives at Ctg Port from Malaysia
This marks the eighth ship to arrive at the port with diesel since the beginning of this month.
Another vessel carrying 30,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia berthed at Chattogram Port early today (31 March), amid an ongoing fuel shortage in the country triggered by the Middle East war.
This marks the eighth ship to arrive at the port with diesel since the beginning of this month.
The Panama-flagged vessel "PVT Solana" reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram port around 3am, confirmed Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) General Manager (Finance) Morshed Hossain Azad.
He told The Business Standard that the diesel may be discharged through lightering if necessary, or directly via berthing at the dolphin jetty.
However, the unloading method has not yet been finalised.
Responding to a query, he said another vessel carrying a similar quantity of diesel is expected to arrive on 3 April.
Port sources also said that another ship carrying around 70,000 tonnes of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is scheduled to arrive on 4 April.
In total, 33 vessels carrying various types of fuel have arrived over the past month.
Of these, 15 ships brought different types of fuel oil, eight carried LNG and nine transported LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
