Elderly man killed, wife injured in suspected robbery at Jatrabari home
The SI said the robbers physically assaulted the elderly couple and looted valuables

An 80-year-old man was killed and his wife critically injured in a suspected robbery at their residence in Dhaka's Jatrabari area early Monday (7 July).
The incident occurred at Khan Villa, a four-storey building in Bibir Bagicha's Ityadi Goli area near Gate 1.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Khan, 80, while his wife, Saleha Begum, 75, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
Sub-inspector (SI) Awlad Hossain of Jatrabari Police Station said a team visited the house upon receiving information but found no one there.
"We later went to the hospital and spoke to their relatives. Further details will be known upon investigation," the SI said.
According to preliminary findings, four suspected robbers broke into the couple's first-floor apartment by cutting through the window grill.
The SI said they physically assaulted the elderly couple and looted valuables. "The exact amount of the stolen items is yet to be determined," he clarified.
Their daughter, Salma, who lives in Rayerbagh of Kadamtali, rushed to the scene with locals after learning about the incident. The victims were taken to DMCH, where doctors declared Ismail dead at around 6:30am.
Locals suspect that the assailants may have suffocated Ismail with a pillow during the robbery, leaving his wife critically wounded.
Family members said they were unable to confirm what was stolen immediately and would assess the losses after visiting the house.
