Eid-ul-Adha celebrated in parts of Munshiganj, Faridpur, Satkhira, Chattogram today

Eid-ul-Adha is being observed in parts of the country today (6 June) in line with Saudi Arabia, including in some areas of Munshiganj, Faridpur, Satkhira, and Chattogram.

In Munshiganj, Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated in at least 15 areas. The main Eid congregation was held around 9am at the Jahagiriya Eidgah field in Uttar Kandi Majhibari under the Shiloi Union of the district, where the prayer was led by local Imam Bacchu Munshi.
From early morning, people of all ages gathered at the Eidgah to participate in the prayers. After the prayer, they embraced one another and exchanged Eid greetings.
Locals said this tradition of celebrating Eid on the same day as Saudi Arabia has been followed in Munshiganj for over a hundred years.
Those observing this practice identify themselves as followers of the Qadiya and Jahangiri tariqa.
In addition to Shiloi, Eid congregations were also reported in Anondopur of Mollakandi Union, Mizhikandi of Adhara Union in Munshiganj Sadar, and Malkhanagar area of Sirajdikhan Upazila.
In Faridpur, Eid-ul-Adha congregations were held in 12 villages in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries.

On the occasion, four Eid congregations were held in Sheikhor and Rupapat unions of Boalmari upazila at 9:00am, 9:30am, and 10:00am respectively.
Additionally, Eid prayers were also held in several villages of Alfadanga, Bhanga, and Sadar upazilas of the district.
Participating Muslims said that followers of Mirzakhil Sharif of Satkania, Chattogram, traditionally celebrate Eid a day earlier in line with the Middle East.
A portion of the villagers in Faridpur who follow this tradition observed the Eid accordingly.
A field visit revealed that devout Muslims performed Eid prayers at the Rakhaltali Eidgah in Sheikhor Union at 9:00am, at Maitkumra Jame Mosque at 8:30am, at Maitkumra Laskarbari Jame Mosque at 9:30am, and at Sahasrail Daira Sharif at 10:00am.
Immediately after the prayers, many began offering their Qurbani as part of the Eid rituals.
In Satkhira, Eid congregations were held in two locations in Satkhira Sadar, aligning with Saudi Arabia's celebration of Eid.

One of the congregations took place in the morning at the Baukhola Purbo Para Jame Mosque in Kushkhali Union of the Sadar Upazila.
Maulana Mohabbat Ali led the Eid prayer. He said, "We have been performing Eid prayers in accordance with Saudi Arabia for years."
Worshippers expressed joy, saying, "We are happy to have offered the Eid prayer. We hope that people around the world can one day celebrate Eid together on the same day."
After the prayer, people performed their Qurbani. A similar Eid congregation was also held in Bharukhali of the same upazila.
Though Eid-ul-Adha is scheduled to be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow (7 June), people in around 60 villages of Chattogram are celebrating the Eid today in line with Saudi Arabia.
The followers of the renowned Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Satkania and the Jahagiria Shah Sufi Momtazia Darbar Sharif in Chandanaish are celebrating Eid today.
These religious communities observe all Islamic occasions, including Eid, based on the moon sightings in Saudi Arabia.
This tradition dates back nearly 200 years and was initiated by Sufi saint Maulana Mokhlesur Rahman (RA), who introduced this practice to the region.
The followers of these two sufis continue to uphold their teachings by aligning their religious observances—including Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Adha—in line with Saudi Arabia.
According to local representatives of the Darbar Sharifs, today's Eid celebrations include the Eid prayer followed by Qurbani, as practiced across the Islamic world.
Additionally, followers of these Darbars residing in Boalkhali, Hathazari, and Fatikchhari of Chattogram, as well as Alikadam of Bandarban, Teknaf, Maheshkhali, and Kutubdia in Cox's Bazar, and several districts including Noakhali, Chandpur, Munshiganj, Barishal, Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Khulna, Bogura, Sirajganj, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, and the capital Dhaka, are also celebrating Eid today.
In Chandanaish, the Eid-ul-Adha congregation was held at 7:00am at the Eidgah field, led by Pir Syed Mohammad Ali of the Jahagiria Shah Sufi Momtazia Darbar Sharif.
