In an initiative to share the joy of Eid with underprivileged communities, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Bidyanondo Foundation have organised a two-day "Eid Ananda Utsab" for homeless and disadvantaged children.

The festival was inaugurated by the city Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain at 10am today (31 March) at city's Biplob Udyan.

The event is open to all, including street children, floating populations, and slum dwellers.

Mayor Shahadat Hossain praised the initiative, stating, "This is a unique and timely event. Ramadan teaches us unity and compassion. The rich should stand by the poor. This festival is open to everyone, ensuring that no one is left out of the Eid celebrations."

Jamal Uddin, a board member of Bidyanondo Foundation, highlighted the need for such an initiative, saying, "Thousands of homeless people in this city never experience the joy of Eid. They cannot return to their villages or join city festivities. This festival, designed for them, will allow nearly 5,000 people to celebrate Eid in a joyful atmosphere."

He added that Biplob Udyan has been transformed into a children's park for the event, reinforcing the community's role in supporting the underprivileged.

At the end of the event, Mayor Shahadat Hossain distributed Eid Salami among homeless children.

This initiative aims to ensure that no one is left out of the Eid festivities, making the celebration truly inclusive.
