The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations begin today (21 April) with around 18.5 lakh students participating, nearly 0.79 lakh fewer than last year.

All previous guidelines regarding entry into exam halls will remain in force.
This year, more than 14.18 lakh candidates are appearing under nine general education boards, over 3 lakh under the madrasa board, and more than 1.34 lakh under the technical education board.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students of the SSC 2026 batch did not sit for the Primary School Certificate (PSC) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations, making this their first public examination.
Authorities said all necessary preparations have been taken to ensure the exams are held in a fair and peaceful environment.
