Notable scholarships for Bangladeshi students in 2021

Over the past decade, Bangladeshi students' interest to pursue a degree from abroad has skyrocketed. Usually, the universities start taking applications from foreign students from the end of a year till the first quarter of a new year. This would be an ideal time to look for scholarships and fundings for Bangladeshi students who are planning to study abroad by the end of this year. Here interested people can look for some of these scholarships for the 2020-21 session - 

Edinburgh Global Distance Learning Scholarships 

The University of Edinburgh will offer scholarships for distance learning Master's programmes for all nationalities across the world. Scholarships will be available for students pursuing any distance learning Master's programme offered by the University. Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees over three years.

Hubert Humphrey Fellowships (USA)

One of the most lucrative scholarships for young professionals is the USA's The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. It provides a year of professional enrichment in the US for experienced professionals from designated countries including Bangladesh. 

The Fellowship provides ten months of non-degree academic study and related professional experiences with the tuition fees, maintenance allowance, insurance, travel costs, English language training, etc.

Westminster Undergraduate Full Scholarships for Developing Countries (UK)

The University of Westminster offers international scholarships for students from developing countries who want to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree at the University. The scholarships cover full tuition fee, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.

Bristol University Think Big Scholarships (UK)

Bristol University's Think Big scholarship is offered to help the brightest and best international minds to accumulate at the university which includes tuition waiver worth  £5,000- £20,000. 

Think Big Undergraduate scholarships and Think Big Postgraduate scholarships are available for courses starting in 2020. 

The Hague World Citizen Talent Scholarship (Netherlands)

The Hague University of Applied Sciences in Netherlands offers scholarships to outstanding international students outside for pursuing a Masters degree. A €5,000 worth tuition fee will be offered as a waiver. 

Lund University Global Scholarships (Sweden)

A Bangladeshi student is eligible to avail the Lund University Global Scholarship programme which targets top academic students who are looking to pursue a Bachelors or Masters Degree Programme at the University. The scholarships may cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fee.

ADB Japan Scholarship Program (Asian countries)

The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) is one of the most prestigious scholarships for Bangladeshi students especially who are aiming to pursue a degree in pure science, technical and medical sciences field. The scholarship provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.

Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (Sweden)

The Swedish Institute offers scholarships to highly-qualified international students from several countries who want to pursue full-time master's level studies in Sweden. The scholarship covers tuition fee, living expenses, some travel grant, and insurance.

DAAD Scholarships with Relevance to Developing Countries (Germany)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a scholarship funded by German government for the students of developing nations. It opens a range of postgraduate courses at German Universities which aim at providing academically educated young professionals from developing countries with further specialised studies. Both full and partial scholarships are available.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships (UK)

Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from any national except the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. The scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge University. 

Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme (France)

The Eiffel scholarship program is designed to attract the best foreign students for Masters and PhD degree programs at the French higher education institutions. Eiffel scholarship-holders receive a monthly allowance and other expenses such as return trip, social security cover, and cultural activities. However, the scholarship does not cover tuition fees.

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (Canada)

The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are merit-based awards that are open to students of any nationality who will be registered as full-time graduate students (Masters or PhD) at the University of Manitoba. The value of these fellowships is $18,000 (PhD) and is $14,000 (Masters) for a 12 month period.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships (Switzerland)

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research at one of the public funded universities or recognized institutions in Switzerland.  The scholarship covers a monthly allowance, tuition fees, health insurance, lodging allowance, etc.
