National robotics and technology festival 'Robolution 1.0' begins at CUET

The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) began its first national robotics and technology festival, titled "MIE Robolution 1.0," yesterday (8 May).
The three-day event is organized by the Department of Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering (MIE) and will continue until 10 May. Over 700 students from 41 universities and colleges across the country are taking part in the festival.
The opening program began at 10am with a cake-cutting ceremony and a rally, which started from the MIE department and ended at the CUET Central Auditorium. The inauguration ceremony was held at 11am at the auditorium.
Speaking at the event, CUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Matin Bhuiyan said:"Robotics is transforming the job market, especially in repetitive tasks. But creativity and human qualities are still important. To face the future, students need to gain technological knowledge and skills."
After the inauguration, a seminar was held where invited speakers discussed the use of robotics in industries and other technology-related topics.
Throughout the three days, there will be competitions and exhibitions related to robotics, mechatronics, software, design, and innovation. A key event is "Techathon," the country's first live hardware-software integrated hackathon.
Other events include CAD Design Competitions, Robo Soccer, Line Following Robots, Project Showcases, and a Chess Tournament. On 9 May (Friday), the events will include Line Following Robot, Soccer Bot, and the Techathon. On the final day, 10 May (Saturday), there will be project showcases, CAD competitions, and the chess tournament. The event will end with a prize-giving and cultural ceremony.
Prof Prosanjit Das, Head of the MIE Department, said: "This festival aims to increase interest in robotics and technology among students and build a national platform. It also encourages problem-solving and innovation."
Mehedi Hasan Abhi, a final-year MIE student, said: "Robolution 1.0 brings together robotics, automation, and innovation. It also helps build stronger ties between universities and industries."
The festival includes a total prize pool of BDT 330,000. The title sponsor is CS Lab, along with support from Iconic, SYNCS, Particles, Wyzen, Eclectic, Macro Construction & Engineering, and Factory Next.
