Govt plans separate permanent centres for public examinations
Education minister says a feasibility study proposal is under approval to reduce disruption to regular classes during exams.
The government is planning to build separate and permanent examination centres for public examinations to prevent prolonged disruption to regular academic activities at educational institutions.
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon disclosed the plan while responding to a question in parliament today (14 July). The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal.
The minister said the government is seriously considering the disruption of regular classes during public examinations held at secondary, higher secondary and university levels.
"As part of efforts to ensure uninterrupted educational activities, a feasibility study proposal for constructing separate and permanent examination centres for various public examinations under secondary, higher secondary, madrasa, technical and National University systems is currently under the approval process," he said.
He added that if the proposal is approved, development projects will be undertaken gradually across the country to establish permanent examination centres based on recommendations from the feasibility study.
The minister said permanent examination centres would allow educational institutions to continue regular classes during public examinations, helping maintain academic continuity, improve examination management and contribute positively to the overall quality of education.
He also said there is currently no separate plan to construct permanent examination centres for students under the Technical and Madrasa Education Division.
"However, the issue will be considered in the future based on necessity, practical considerations and government policy decisions," he added.
The minister said the government's objective is to gradually develop necessary infrastructure, reduce dependence on educational institutions for conducting public examinations and establish an effective and sustainable system to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.
