Govt plans four more engineering colleges to expand technical education: Milon
Milon says the expansion will help meet growing demand for technically skilled workers at home and abroad.
The government plans to establish four more engineering colleges to expand technical education and develop a skilled workforce, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said today (23 August).
A separate project is also being taken up to develop Dhaka Polytechnic Institute as a model institution, he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a national dialogue titled "A National Dialogue on TVET for a Skilled & Productive Bangladesh" at Daffodil Plaza in Dhanmondi.

"There is no alternative to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to turn our large population into human resources," Milon said, stressing its role in socioeconomic development.
He said global demand for technically skilled workers was growing and that better-trained workers could help boost Bangladesh's remittance earnings.
At present, Bangladesh has four government engineering colleges offering BSc engineering degrees, along with 11 textile engineering colleges, six government marine academies, six specialised public engineering universities and 49 government polytechnic institutes.
