Govt school admission quota approved for family members of July uprising victims
The Ministry of Education issued an office order regarding the new policy

The government has decided to extend secondary school admission quotas to include family members of those injured or killed in the 2024 July uprising, in addition to the existing provision for children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters.
The Ministry of Education issued a new office order regarding the new policy today (2 March).
Previously, a 5% quota was reserved for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters. Under the new policy, this 5% quota will also cover the family members of those affected by the July uprising.
According to the education ministry order, 5% of seats in government secondary schools will be reserved for the children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and the family members of those injured or martyred in the July uprising.
To qualify for this quota, applicants must submit a certified copy of the relevant certificate or gazette with their application and present the original document at the time of admission, said the order.
It stated that the verification process must ensure the authenticity of the freedom fighter certificate issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs or the gazette listing those martyred in the 2024 July uprising.
If eligible candidates are not available, admissions will be filled from the merit list to ensure no seats remain vacant.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has directed the authorities concerned to implement the order.
On 27 February, the government published a gazette recognising 1,401 individuals injured in the July uprising as "July Warriors." Of these, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs categorised 493 as seriously injured in Category 'A' and 908 in Category 'B,' with plans to release a 'C' category list based on the severity of injuries.
Earlier on 15 January, a gazette was issued listing 834 martyrs from the mass uprising.
