Edu minister meets British Council officials in London

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon met with Harriet Gardner, director of Growth Market at the British Council, and Stephen Forbes, country director of British Council Bangladesh, during the Education World Forum 2026 in London today (20 May).
The meeting was held to explore cooperation in education reform, skills development, and employability enhancement.
During the discussion, the British Council outlined potential areas of support for Bangladesh, including refining the English language curriculum, strengthening teachers' professional development, improving assessment systems, and enhancing coherence between Bangla-medium and English-medium education streams.
The minister emphasised the government's priority of making education more job-oriented, with a strong focus on employability, industry-academia linkage, and demand-driven curriculum reform, alongside strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems.
UK representatives shared their experience of working with different countries in aligning education systems with national priorities and labour market needs.
Both sides expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in education reform, skills development, and improving job readiness among students.
Adviser to the prime minister Mahdi Amin was also present at the meeting.
