Dhaka University (DU) ranked 1st in South Asia and 52nd globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Ranking.
The information was announced in a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Office this afternoon (20 November).
This year, 12 public and private universities from Bangladesh secured positions in the league table. Earlier in the day, the UK-based education magazine Times Higher Education published its 2026 rankings, featuring 911 universities from 94 countries.
The Interdisciplinary Science Ranking places particular emphasis on evaluating universities' multidimensional and cross-disciplinary research. Institutions are assessed across three broad areas covering funding and research investment, measures of success and support systems, as well as publications, research quality, impact and reputation.
The final positions are determined using 11 performance indicators spanning these categories.
