Dhaka University VC thanks all for successful Ducsu polls, congratulates winning and defeated candidates

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan has expressed his gratitude to students, election candidates, media personnel, law enforcement agencies, and everyone involved in the Ducsu and hall union elections for their role in ensuring a smooth and successful process.
The vice chancellor extended his best wishes to both winning and defeated candidates, noting their important contributions.
"They have helped activate a key institution like Ducsu and demonstrated tolerance throughout the election process, from preparation to polling day. Despite differing parties and opinions, they have set a remarkable example of unity through their shared commitment to Dhaka University and the country," he said in a statement issued today (11 September).
Niaz Ahmed also thanked journalists for their continuous coverage and expressed deep sorrow over the death of Channel S journalist Tariqul Islam Shibli, who passed away while on duty.
He praised the Election Commission for its tireless work, highlighting a member who remained fully engaged despite having a child hopsitalised in the ICU.
The vice chancellor also acknowledged the role of parents, teacher forums, and observers from Chittagong University, thanking them for monitoring and supporting the electoral process.
The long-awaited Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election was held on Tuesday (9 September).
The Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, secured a sweeping victory in the election, winning 23 out of 28 posts in the central committee, including vice-president and general secretary posts.
Md Abu Shadik (Kayem) was elected vice-president (VP) and SM Farhad clinched the general secretary (GS) post.
