BU students on hunger strike demanding VC’s removal

Students at Barisal University (BU) have initiated a hunger strike, demanding the removal of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Suchita Sharmin.
This new phase of protest was announced at 9:30pm today (12 May), amid an ongoing academic and administrative shutdown of the university.
Student Sujoy Shuvo declared the VC "unwanted" on campus during an emergency press conference.

Although examinations were held in 25 departments today, regular classes remained suspended as students continued their protest. Faculty members have voiced their support for the students through statements and press conferences, and some university officials and employees have also joined the movement.
