‘Automatic promotion for primary students if schools cannot be reopened by November’
"We have to promote students automatically to the next classes if we cannot resume the activities by November"

Primary and Mass Education Senior Secretary Akram-Al-Hossain today said students will be automatically promoted if the primary schools cannot be reopened by November due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Replying to the reporters at the secretariat on Sunday, he said, "We have to promote students automatically to the next classes if we cannot resume the activities by November."
"We have asked all the institutions to prepare a plan on how they will run their academic activities. We will also give a guideline," he said.
"If the schools reopen, the annual examinations will be taken but if we are unable to reopen the schools by November, the annual examination will not be held this time," he added.
All educational institutions have remained closed since March 17.
The government started airing recorded classes on Sangsad Television and radio. However, a good number of students do not have access to such distance learning facilities as many households do not have televisions.
