Around 4.5 lakh students to receive school uniforms in July: Edu minister
Education is not just about studying textbooks and achieving GPA-5; it must be enjoyable and skill-oriented, he says.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today (13 June) announced nearly 4.5 lakh primary school students across the country will receive school uniforms by July as part of the government's efforts to improve the quality of primary education.
"The government has undertaken a range of initiatives, including expanding multimedia classrooms and introducing sports and debate clubs in educational institutions, to make primary education more effective and enjoyable," he said after inaugurating the four-storey Bishweshwar Poddar Building at Panchamighat High School in Narayanganj's Sonargaon.
"Education is not just about studying textbooks and achieving GPA-5; it must be enjoyable and skill-oriented. Work is underway to revise and update school textbooks," the minister added.
He also said the government is planning to introduce third-language education and place greater emphasis on technical and vocational training to transform the country's large population into skilled human resources.
Milon noted that the government is also considering formulating a policy for the nationalisation of century-old educational institutions.
